Please take the time to read the following. You won’t be sorry you did!
What will it cost?... is usually the first question we all ask. I would ask a return question. How much is your music worth? This isn’t a supply and demand question, it’s a practical one. If you want a CD you can be proud of, money isn’t the object, however, budget is. Plan and practice might be a good motto. If time is spent PREPARING for the session, less time will be spent on the session. Rates are a guideline for you to PLAN for your project. How much it costs is up to you. Plan on these extras; 1-1/2 hour per song for mixing, $20.00 for supplies and 3-5 hours per CD (12 songs) for Mastering. The Sounds of Sebring came into the studio, laid down 15 songs in 6 hours! Well rehearsed,? Absolutely! All business? Definitely! Fun? Totally! Pressure, on me YES!, on them no. They’re CD is wonderful and the happiness shows in their vocals. Cost for the recording, mixing and mastering was just under $1000.00. An Album for under a grand! What a concept and totally fun! Not totally typical as they are barbershop (no instruments) but still possible. I have many examples of how little it costs to get your music out of the garage. But one thing is certain, QUALITY will not be compromised! Remember, recording is not live! Like the camera, the tape doesn’t lie! Planning and preparation is the key to a quality finished product at a surprisingly affordable price. |
